Bradshaw Mt Football Back on the Field

PRESCOTT, 8/3/23 - As the 2023 football season approaches, the Bradshaw Mountain Bears are hard at work, diligently preparing for the challenges ahead. KYCA Sports Director John Rust provides an insight into the team's progress during the initial week of practice.

According to Coach Bob Young, the team has been actively training throughout the summer, focusing on honing their passing game during June's seven-on-seven sessions. Weeks ago, the team also attended a camp in the White Mountains, where they began installing run plays. The first three days of practice have been dedicated to conditioning exercises, given the limitations of practicing with helmets only.

Young expressed satisfaction with the team's offseason workouts, emphasizing the importance of conditioning and reviewing plays before they can incorporate full-contact drills. The addition of shoulder pads on Thursday will mark a significant step towards introducing hitting into the practice routine.

Looking ahead, Bradshaw Mountain is gearing up for a four-way scrimmage at Westwood High School on August 16, a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their strategies before the official season opener. On August 25, the Bears will kick off their season at home, facing off against state runner-up Snowflake.

With the dedication and hard work displayed during the early stages of practice, Bradshaw Mountain's football team is setting the stage for a promising and competitive 2023 season.

Reporting for the news on 1490, I'm John Rust, providing an exclusive look into the Bradshaw Mountain Bears' preparation for the upcoming football season.
