ADOT Protects Native Plants During I-17 Work
As construction crews begin the I-17 improvement project between Sunset Point and Anthem, protecting native plants along that route is a priority. Several saguaros, palo verde trees, and other plants are being re-located, and will be used later for landscaping along the interstate. Hundreds of viable native trees and plants will be collected over the next several months. Two-thirds of the trees and plants along that stretch of I-17 will remain where they are. In addition, replanting operations are planned in the work area using native seed mixes and nursery-grown plants.
