More rock blasting is planned for this week along I-17. The interstate will be closed in both directions between Table Mesa Road and Black Canyon City Wednesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 p.m. This is expected to create a two-mile back-up during that hour. In addition, southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between Sunset Point and Anthem Way from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday as crews perform electrical work and earth work. This is all part of the I-17 improvement project. Motorists traveling through the area should allow themselves extra time to reach their destination and be mindful of construction equipment and personnel.
