AZ Attorney General Wants Quick Decision from EPA on PFAs

6/1/23

State Attorney General Kris Mayes is urging the EPA to quickly finalize its drinking water standards when it comes to PFAs. Mayes says, "tThe EPA should also make resources available to public water systems so the financial burden of removing these chemicals does not fall unfairly on consumers.”

PFAs resist degradation in the environment and accumulate in the body. Those contaminants may cause serious health issues for humans and animals. Last year the City of Prescott and Town of Prescott Valley discovered PFAs in some of their wells and took steps to rectify the problem.
