Bag Limits Reduced for Rabbit Hunting
4/25/23
If you hunt rabbits in Yavapai County, the State Game and Fish Department wants to remind you that a reduction in the daily bag limit goes into effect this summer. Starting July 1st, the daily limit for cottontails will be reduced from ten to five. In addition, hunters will only be able to bag two jackrabbits per day. This is due to the lingering effects of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus type two. So far, the disease has not been detected among the rabbit population in Yavapai County, but it has shown up in Coconino, Pima, Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Apache, and Navajo counties. Hunting rabbits is allowed year-round in Arizona.
