Bear Shot After Breaking into Prescott Home
7/6/23
A bear was shot and killed last week after breaking into a Prescott home. The state Game and Fish Department reports the bear broke through the door of a home near Spruce Mountain and wandered through the laundry room and the kitchen. The homeowner confronted the bear and yelled at it. The animal exited the home, but continued to circle the property. When it headed back to the house, the homeowner shot it. Game and Fish reports the bear was a healthy adult male around five years old. The bear had been seen several times in the area rummaging through trash. Last month, a man was killed in a black bear attack in Groom Creek. That bear was also shot and killed.
