BLACK CANYON CITY MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY FIRING GUN

11/21/23

A Black Canyon City man was arrested Saturday night on several weapons charges after allegedly firing multiple rounds outside his residence. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies took 36-year-old Daniel Jackson into custody without incident at his home on Mud Springs Road. A family member had called 911 to report Jackson was intoxicated and had fired a .40-caliber handgun several times from inside his home, including towards an occupied trailer on a neighboring property.

Deputies report the family member said Jackson had seen a possible prowler outside his home. She told deputies that after the shots were fired, she was able to get the gun away from Jackson and throw it into nearby bushes before calling for help. Deputies located Jackson outside his residence where he had thrown a shotgun on the ground prior to them taking him into custody.

Investigators said they found both weapons, shell casings, and three bullet holes in a barbeque on the property. No one was injured in the incident. Jackson was booked into jail on four charges, including felony counts of misconduct involving weapons, discharging a firearm at a structure, and disorderly conduct with a weapon.
