
Congressmen Crane, Gosar Introduce Bill to Protect Natural Resource Rights

Prescott’s current congressman and its former congressman teamed up to introduce a bill aimed at giving Native American tribes more freedom to control their natural resources. Representatives Eli Crane and Paul Gosar introduced the Energy Opportunities for all Act. It which would nullify the Biden Administration’s action that bans citizens from lawfully exercising the rights over their lands and resources. In June, the Biden Administration issued a public land order banning private landowners from mineral leasing 336,000 acres of federal land surrounding the Chaco Canyon National Historical Park for 20 years. Much of this land is on the Navajo Nation. Crane said, “This administration likes to talk about their supposed support for tribal communities, but has no problem implementing a destructive chokehold on tribal revenue and economic prosperity.”
