Cottonwood Sex Assault Suspect Arrested After Pursuit Along I-17
A Cottonwood man suspected of sexual assault on a minor was arrested following a chase down I-17 Friday. According to Cottonwood police, detectives were investigating the suspect on allegations he had sexually abused a younger member of his family over the course of five years. When he left his home, officers attempted a traffic stop. When the suspect failed to pull over, police pursued him along I-17. DPS troopers used stop sticks to disable the suspect’s vehicle near Cordes Junction. The suspect refused to exit his vehicle and attempted to take his own life, but a SWAT team used less lethal means to subdue him. The suspect was flown to Deer Valley Hospital for treatment of his self-inflicted wound. Cottonwood police have not released the name of the suspect.
