David Rhodes, Other AZ Sheriffs Brace for the End of Title 42

5/11/23

They are committed to protecting Arizona citizens as Title 42 comes to an end. That was the message three Arizona sheriffs had at a press conference in Phoenix Wednesday.

Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes said of Title 42, “This experiment, whatever it was, has failed us.”

Title 42 is a COVID-19 era policy that allowed the U.S. Border Patrol to turn away undocumented migrants. That policy ends Thursday at 9 p.m. Rhodes added he and his fellow sheriffs are working very hard to keep everyone safe, saying, "We got this. We’re not going to let this get into a full blown situation in your communities.”

Joining Rhodes in Wednesday’s press conference were Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone and Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
