Fire at Prescott Lakes Senior Living
8/7/23
A fire broke out at the Prescott Lakes Senior Living community apartment complex. Prescott fire and police personnel were called to the scene around 6 p.m. Friday. They found smoke coming from the window of an apartment on the third floor. Firefighters, aided by the complex’s sprinkler system, managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread to other units. However, the firefighting efforts resulted in extensive water damage to the apartment complex, and it was determined it would be unsafe for residents to stay there. A Red Cross shelter was set up at the Humboldt Unified School District. Eleven people chose to go there, while the rest stayed at hotels or with family members. One police officer suffered smoke inhalation and one resident suffered a medical episode and was taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire is not known.
