Game and Fish Concludes Mountain Lion Operation in Prescott
5/30/23
Officials with the state Game and Fish Department report they have concluded a public safety operation in Prescott targeting mountain lions. Last week a group of four mountain lions were killed in the area of Rosser Street after killing and injuring several pets and showing aggressive behavior toward humans. Department officials say the behavior of the lions was deemed unacceptable and posed a threat to public safety. Because of this, relocating the animals was not a viable option. Game and Fish officials point to an incident earlier this year when a man was attacked by a mountain lion along the Salt River in Gila County. Anyone in the Prescott area who witnesses a mountain lion acting aggressively toward people should call the Game and Fish dispatch center at 623-236-7201.
