Slowly but surely firefighters are getting a handle on the Pilot Fire burning along the Yavapai/Mohave County border near Wikieup. The fire has not grown much over the past couple of days, and now stands at 33,800 acres. The Pilot Fire is 39-percent contained. Firefighters are conducting fuel reduction operations around structures and roads on the northeast and southwest flanks of the fire. More than 150 personnel are assigned to the pilot fire, which began back on July first. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is labeling this as a human-caused fire.
