Local Fire Agencies Help Payson During Tanker Fire
Fire departments from around Yavapai County pitched in to help the Town of Payson deal with a major incident. On Friday evening, a car and a tanker truck carrying 8,600 gallons of gasoline collided on Highway 87. This resulted in a large fire that spread to nearby grass. With most resources from the Payson Fire Department committed to the incident, units from the Verde Valley, Sedona, and Copper Canyon Fire Districts were sent to Payson to cover any other emergencies there. Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and the Prescott Fire Department also sent units to the Verde Valley to help cover that area. The tanker truck fire was fully contained by Saturday afternoon.
