Man in Cottonwood Arrested for Allegedly Endangering Baby
6/21/23
Police in Cottonwood arrested a man who was screaming on the street while holding a three-month-old baby. Officers were called to the intersection of N. Main St. and Willard St. last Saturday just before 7 p.m. for a report of a man acting erratically. When they arrived, they found the man holding the baby by the torso and head and screaming for someone who was not there. Officers managed to free the baby from the man’s grip and subdue him. During the arrest, a random citizen became involved in the situation and was arrested for hindering prosecution and disorderly conduct. The man who had the baby was charged with child abuse, aggravated assault, endangerment, and disorderly conduct. The baby was turned over to its mother, who denied medical attention for the child. The Department of Child Safety was called in to make appropriate arrangements for the baby’s care.
