PEDESTRIAN KILLED WHILE CROSSING STREET IN COTTONWOOD

A pedestrian was killed while crossing the street without activating the crosswalk signal at an intersection in Cottonwood. The fatal incident occurred Thursday evening at the intersection of Birch and Main Streets, resulting in the 42-year-old pedestrian’s death.


According to Cottonwood Police, the preliminary investigation indicates the victim left a local business on foot and just before reaching the intersection at Birch and Main, the pedestrian began crossing without activating the crosswalk signal. Eyewitnesses reported a vehicle traveling south on Main Street collided with the pedestrian. Despite a quick response by EMTs, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries. 


Both occupants of the vehicle submitted to Field Sobriety Tests and no signs of impairment were detected. No names have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
