Pile Burning In Granite Basin
10/20/22
Pile burning is taking place at the Granite Basin Recreation Area. Prescott National Forest crews plan to burn 275 acres of debris piles in order to eliminate hazardous fuels and reduce the risk of a catastrophic wildfire. Fire managers expect smoke impacts to be light, however as temperatures cool overnight smoke may linger in drainages and valleys. Smoke impacts are expected in the areas of Iron Springs, Williamson Valley, Downtown Prescott, Copper Basin, and Thumb Butte. All pile burning should be completed by October 31st.
