Pilot Fire at 33,000 Acres

The Pilot Fire keeps getting bigger. Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management officials report the wildfire is now more than 33,000 acres in size. Aircraft were called in to try and contain the fire to remote and rugged terrain. More than 160 personnel are battling the Pilot Fire, which is burning along the Mohave/Yavapai county border. Smoke from the fire is visible throughout a large portion of Western Yavapai County. This human-caused fire began back on July 1st and is five-percent contained. The incident commander for the Pilot Fire is former Prescott Fire Chief Darrell Willis.
