Prescott area Congressman Eli Crane has introduced a bill to help those veterans using the GI Bill to attend college. The Transcript Assurance for Heroes Act would cut red tape and streamline the complex process often experienced by GI Bill beneficiaries trying to access their academic transcripts. Crane says veterans using the GI Bill often face obstacles in accessing their transcripts, usually through inaccurate billing practices and disputed debts. Institutions can exploit the lack of counseling for student veterans, misrepresenting the extent of financial coverage under the GI Bill. Crane calls this unacceptable, and the issue needs to be fixed urgently.
