PVPD Warns of Rental Scam
2/1/23
They told her the property was for rent, and for a good price. But that was not true, because it was a scam. Prescott Valley police report a woman contacted them Tuesday saying she found a home to rent online and emailed the property owners. They told the woman they were out of state but really wanted her to rent the home. The woman was told she could check out the home, but could only do so by looking through the windows. When the supposed owners told her to give them a deposit, she got suspicious and contacted the Prescott Valley police, who discovered the home in question was not really for rent. Those looking for rental properties should do an online check of the rental company, take a tour of the property, and ask the rental agent for ID before paying for anything.
