The games count for real starting this week. Several of our local teams have their season openers, starting with Prescott Boys Golf, who begin their 2023 campaign Tuesday with a home match versus Lee Williams. Thursday sees a slew of season openers involving our local college teams. Embry-Riddle Women’s Soccer hosts the defending NAIA national champions Spring Arbor at 7 p.m. The Yavapai College soccer teams also open at home versus the College of Southern Nevada. The women kick-off at 3:30 p.m., followed by the men at 6 p.m. The Embry-Riddle volleyball team is at the Southern Oregon tournament, and Bradshaw Mountain boys golf has its first match of the season at home versus Mingus. On Friday, it’s the first football game of the year as Chino Valley travels to Page. At the same time, Chino Valley Girls Soccer begins play at the Longhorn Invitational in Payson. Then on Saturday, the Embry-Riddle men’s soccer team is at home versus University of Providence.
