Snow Melt Could Lead to More Flooding
3/7/23
The snow that fell on Yavapai County last Wednesday has been melting rapidly, and will continue to do so with warmer temperatures this week. That will increase the risk of flooding. The National Weather Service reports snow melt could lead to minor flooding in areas along the Verde River, Oak Creek, Sycamore Creek, and the Agua Fria River. It is also likely that water will pool in poorly drained areas around the county. NWS wants you to be aware of higher water levels near rivers and streams. If you are driving and come across a flooded area, turn around to avoid getting stuck in deep water. Over the weekend the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority was called out when a motorist got stuck in water in the Big Chino Wash.
