SWAT CALLED OUT FOR DV SUSPECT IN PRESCOTT

10/16/23

BOTH THE YAVAPAI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND PRESCOTT VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT SWAT TEAMS WERE CALLED OUT SATURDAY NIGHT TO DEAL WITH A BARRICADED SUSPECT IN PRESCOTT. ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, DEPUTIES WERE SENT TO A HOME ON LOIS LANE AROUND 8:45 P.M. IN RESPONSE TO A REPORT OF MULTIPLE SHOTS FIRED AND A WOMAN SCREAMING “GET AWAY FROM ME.”

IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT 48-YEAR-OLD JASON BUETER HAD FIRED FOUR OR FIVE SHOTS DURING A FAMILY FIGHT. DEPUTIES GOT HIS GIRLFRIEND AND GRANDDAUGHTER TO SAFETY AND BEGAN NEGOTIATING WITH BUETER. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, BUETER SURRENDERED AND WAS BOOKED INTO THE CAMP VERDE DETENTION CENTER ON NUMEROUS CHARGES, INCLUDING AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORTS SWAT PERSONNEL WERE CALLED TO BUETER’S HOME LAST YEAR FOR A SIMILAR INCIDENT.
