Take Precautions When Driving Through Monsoon Storms
6/16/23
Monsoon season has begun, which means you could run into heavy rain while out driving in the Tri-City area. Should that happen, ADOT advises you slow down and allow extra room between vehicles for safe stopping distance. Another concern during the monsoon is flooding. Avoid any flooded roadways and low water crossings. If a low water crossing is closed, do not go around the barriers. Flood waters could sweep away you and your vehicle. Arizona does have the “stupid motorist law” where if you ignore barriers at a low water crossing and become stuck in flood waters, you could be forced to pay for the cost of your rescue.
