Tri-City Area Under Fire Weather Watch for Thursday

7/5/23

High temperatures and high winds have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a fire weather watch for the Tri-City area. It will be in effect Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Along with low humidity and temperatures in the low 90s, wind gusts could get up to 40 miles per hour, increasing the chance for a major wildfire. The fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is very high, and most of Yavapai County is under stage one fire restrictions. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or spark. Do not throw cigarettes out car windows, and make sure no chains are dragging from your vehicle as that can throw out sparks. Also, make sure you do not park on grass, as heat from your vehicle are start a brushfire.
