Two Arrested for Barricading Themselves in Someone Else's Home

7/14/23

They went into someone else’s home, and when police told them to come out, they refused. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Horseshoe Lane in Cordes Lakes Wednesday just before 11:30 p.m. They met a man who said he gave two people a ride to the address, but he did not know them. Deputies contacted the homeowner, who told them no one was supposed to be in his house. When deputies told the couple to leave, they blocked the front door with furniture. The male suspect, identified as 34-year-old Andrew Dean Smith, barricaded himself in a bedroom. The YCSO Quick Response Team was called in, entered the home, and found smith and his female companion, 22-year-old McKenzie Raye Wilbanks, hiding in a bedroom closet. Both were arrested on numerous charges, including trespassing and criminal damage. Smith and Wilbanks also had warrants out of Prescott and Prescott Valley respectively.
