Very Busy Winter for ADOT Snowplows

4/4/23

It was one snowy winter in Arizona, and that kept ADOT snowplows very busy. The agency reports its plows logged over one million miles trying to keep our roadways clear of snow. A lot of that work took place here in Yavapai County, as parts of I-17, Highway 260, and I-40 were closed several times due to snowy conditions. ADOT has a fleet of 200 snowplows. The 1.2 million miles those vehicles put in were double the amount they drove during the winter of 2021-2022. The drivers also worked more than 66,000 hours, again, double the amount from last winter.
