Warmer Temperatures Means More Snowpack Melt

4/10/23

The warm weather we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Temperatures are expected to exceed 80 degrees Tuesday and hover around the mid-70s on Wednesday. While the weather will be pleasant, the National Weather Service warns it will result in snowpack at the high elevations melting faster. That means increased flow for creeks and rivers. People living near those bodies of water should be mindful of possible flooding. You should have a go-bag with extra clothes, food, water, and medications ready in case you need to evacuate. You can also get free sandbags from county public works facilities or your local fire station, though you will have to fill them yourself. NWS reports no rain is in the forecast for the Prescott area this week.
