Watch Out for Rattlers in Prescott
6/6/23
More people are hitting the trails around Prescott, which means a higher chance you could encounter a snake while out hiking. Yavapai County is home to four different types of rattlesnake – the Western Diamondback, the Mohave, the Black-Tailed, and the Arizona Black. The City of Prescott has some tips to avoid potential issues with rattlesnakes while you’re hiking. Be sure to stay on the trail and try to hike during the cooler periods of the day. If you have to go through grass, use a walking stick to rustle the grass in front of you. Be mindful of where you put your hands when you sit down, and if you do see a snake, keep your distance from it and leave it alone.
