YAVAPAI COUNTY SHERIFF DAVID RHODES PENS OPEN LETTER ON BORDER CRISIS

10/13/23

Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes penned an open letter to the Governor and the State Legislature asking them to double the $12 million in the FY25 state budget designated for local law enforcement to manage crime related to illegal border crossers.

The letter states: While the $12 million is appreciated, a doubling will mean a tremendous amount to the sheriff’s offices that patrol local highways and interstates, allowing them to add more deputies patrolling the roads, increase efforts to interdict drug and human smugglers, and utilize better technology to match the wealth and equipment used by the cartels.

No word on when Sheriff Rhodes expects a response.
