A tough way to open the season for the Yavapai College Volleyball Team. The Lady Riders took on number two ranked Scottsdale Monday night, and fell in the first set 25-12. The next two sets also ended in favor of the Fighting Artichokes with scores of 25-15 and 25-12 to complete the three-set sweep. Michalina Oles led the Yavapai attack with eight kills. Emily Hogg posted seven kills. Jezebel Rivas and Zofia Ciejka both recorded seven digs. The Lady Riders are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Phoenix College. Then they head up to Colorado for the Trinidad State Tournament Friday and Saturday. The Lady Riders first home match of 2023 is set for August 30th. They face Mesa College. After that, YC hosts the Dalton Overstreet Tournament August 31st through September 2nd.
