YC Women's Soccer Wins Season Opener, ERAU Volleyball Splits at Tournament
The weather turned miserable in Prescott Thursday, but the Yavapai College Women’s Soccer Team still managed to get in their season opener. The new-look Lady Rider squad showed they’ve come together in a big way by getting a 4-2 victory over the College of Southern Nevada. YC had goals by four different players, Ciara Webbe, Emma Young, Julie Reyes, and Bradshaw Mountain alum Bria Coleman. Two other soccer season openers, however, were washouts. Severe monsoon storms forced the postponements of the Yavapai/Southern Nevada men’s game and the Embry-Riddle/Spring Arbor women’s game. Meanwhile, up in the Pacific Northwest, the Embry-Riddle Volleyball Team split a pair at the Southern Oregon Tournament. They beat Oregon Tech 3-2 and lost to Southern Oregon 3-0. Katie “Rock N’” Rolle recorded 39 assists and 16 digs, and freshman Alexsandra Rodriguez posted 12 kills.
