The suspect grabbed a rock, while the deputy grabbed a taser. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Cornville Road last Friday just before midnight. The driver, 48-year-old David Wayne Atkerson, began reaching around in the car, causing one deputy to order him out of the vehicle. When the deputies tried to place Atkerson in handcuffs, he feld the scene and fell into a nearby drainage ditch. Atkerson reportedly picked up a rock, but a deputy knocked it out of his hand. When tkerson picked up another rock, the second deputy used a taser on him. A search of atkerson turned up seven grams of meth. He was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, criminal speeding, and possession of dangerous drugs.
