
YCSO Responds to Two Stabbings

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office responded to two stabbings over the past week, one in Cottonwood, the other in Cordes Lakes.
YCSO officials report last Thursday, deputies were called to a stabbing near South Posse Trail in Cottonwood. The suspect, Wanda Derby, allegedly fought with two people. When a third person tried to restrain her, she stabbed him in the arm. Derby was arrested for aggravated assault. The stabbing victim was treated for minor injuries.
The second incident occurred last Saturday on East Zaragoza Drive in Cordes Lakes. The suspect, Carla Curtiss, allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. When deputies arrived, they found Curtiss outside her vehicle and arrested her. The victim was taken to Deer Valley North Hospital and is in stable condition. Curtiss is charged with attempted first-degree murder and several other offenses.
