YCSO Warns of Online Sextortion

2/13/23

There are multiple ways our children can be exploited online, including falling prey to "catfishing" by adults, being subjected to participating in child pornography, or being lured to meet with predators.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is asking you to be diligent in warning your kids about not meeting in-person with anyone they don't know unless they tell a parent. Another risk to local youth is  financial sextortion. This is an online exploitation crime in which threats are used to demand money from the victim. YCSO officals urge parents to let their your kids know if this happens to them, that they can talk to you about it. You can also call the sheriff’s office at 928-771-3260.
