State House Gives Tentative Approval to Guns in School

Parents and guardians with conceal carry permits might be able to bring their guns into schools in Yavapai County. The Arizona house gave tentative approval to a bill allowing parents to bring their guns onto school campuses. Senate Bill 1331 gives that privilege to parents or a student's legal guardian with concealed carry permits. But lawmakers who are also educators do not like the idea. Democrat and high school teacher Nancy Gutierrez shared an incident at her daughter's school last year in which an enraged parent picking up his suspended children defiantly went through a door leading to an area where students were having lunch. She says that man hit a student and a riot ensued:
